March changelog

StoryForge Beta 1.0, Build 28 (2024-03-01)

Introducing the Ad Theater! Click the 🎞️ icon in the upper-right corner of any page throughout the app to watch a short video, and soon, watch ads to engage with our advertising partners. You'll earn a Quill the first time you do this each day.

Introducing the Daily Task List! Click the checklist icon in the upper-right corner of any page throughout the app to see what tasks we've generated for you for the day. You'll earn a Quill each time you complete one. Bonus: if the Ad Theater task appears in your Daily Task List, you'll get TWO Quills total for watching an "ad" instead of just one. We'll generate 3 tasks for you every day — try to complete all of the tasks you get!

Backend release 0.15.5 "Flandrau", build O63ZE3DH3 (2024-03-01)

Plonks Vivik down in the Ad Theater.

Fixes a bunch of issues with the Daily Task List (even from build W38Q5BDH3).

Some tweaks to notification calculations. We're nearly there on getting that back up and running!

Massive thanks to Connor for his work on the Ad Theater, and Hamza for his work on the Daily Task List.

Known issue: The Daily Task List may take a bit of time to update for some actions, we'll be working on improving the speed that it updates. Rest assured, your actions are saving and crediting on the backend, but if it takes more than a minute to reflect on the Daily Task List (and refreshing doesn't fix the problem), please add a comment to Daily Task List doesn't update and we can manually reconcile your account.

Backend has been updated to 0.15.6, build MJGD0YJH3, which should help with crediting tasks to your list.

Backend has been updated to 0.15.7, build 0QWUA878G to fix some things with how comment trees are processed.

StoryForge Beta 2.0 Features Announcement (2024-03-03)

Those of you who joined in the event live got a taste of the Beta 2 feature list... but, for those who didn't, we're thrilled to share the nine features that are coming to StoryForge in March and April!

User avatar customization

Purchasing Quills

Accessibility improvements

Chapters (our most requested feature! for now we'll be focusing on the reading side)

Account self-service upgrades and fixing authentication issues

Author profiles and following other authors

Reading history (we're capturing your reading history as of March 1, so anything you've read since then, you'll be able to go back to easily)

More (and fixed!) notifications

Administrative tools, including letting Beatrice upload new library customization options without needing to ask me for help. Whether you all should be excited or terrified about the number of options coming to you remains to be seen.

And, of course, we'll have a few surprises along the way. After all, if we reveal everything in one go, where's the fun in that?

Thank you to everyone here for all of the support you've given us, and for all of the feature requests and bug reports you've submitted — they were instrumental in helping us prioritize our miles-long wish list. And thank you to all of our developers for all of the work that you've done to make this a reality! (Devs have their names highlighted in blue, so be sure to show your appreciation if you see them online.) We can't wait to release these features to you over the next couple months, so keep an eye on changelog for news on each feature as it's released
