February changelog

StoryForge Beta 1.0, Build 20 (2024-02-01)

Improved error messages on login, registration, email verification, and password reset screens by replacing the generic "your request could not be processed" message with messages specific to what went wrong, including an error code if applicable.

StoryForge Beta 1.0, Build 25 (2024-02-17)

New Library customization choices and interface tweaks (including a mobile friendly library editor)! Right now the Decor tab has lots of options with all of our pride flags, so we're limiting that view to show a random subset of the available choices. We've got lots more coming here, including restoring the ability to see all of the options in a category without having them clip the entire screen.

Some formatting improvements when uploading text files: we'll now preserve a bit more formatting when it comes to line breaks and tabs. The best way to load text into the editor is still to write it in the editor itself, however if you have a long story that you want to import, you can paste without formatting (generally ⌘⇧V in Chrome, ⌥⌘⇧V in Safari, ⌃⇧V on Windows) and then use the editor to apply formatting later.

Larger length limits on story hooks and blurbs. Now you've got a bit more breathing room to get readers excited about your story!

Tooltips on reaction buttons so you know what they mean.

Enabled the footer navigation on more pages so you can easily access the major sections of the platform.

And, of course, a healthy dose of bug fixes and performance improvements - thank you to everyone who submitted bug reports over the past couple weeks!

StoryForge Beta 1.0, Build 26 (2024-02-19)

Fixed several bugs with inline feedback! You should now be able to leave inline feedback on each other's works and have it actually persist to the database! 🎉 Story authors can remove feedback from their works, and of course you can always delete a piece of feedback that you've left.

We are also excited to share that the leadership team is currently reviewing and finalizing our feature list for Beta 2. We'll have more to share on what that feature list is and our release plans in the coming week or so.

New library customization options alert! We've added the asexual and aromantic pride flags, as well as both versions of the autistic pride flag (Gold & Rainbow, and Stripes & White). For those of you who want to fly these flags, we're sorry to have skipped over you in the initial release, we promise it wasn't intentional!

These flags are now appearing in the rotation of available items in the Decor tab, and just like all other flags, are 1 Quill each if you'd like to use them.

StoryForge Beta 1.0, Build 27 (2024-02-20)

New feature: Tags! You can now organize your stories using tags that you define, just like how you can organize stories with genres that we've defined. Please mind the visibility settings - any tags you create that are flagged as visible WILL eventually be seen and searchable by other readers.

The Create and Upload Stories buttons have moved to a new action menu in the upper right corner of the Write page. This is also where you can create tags.

Just like with inline feedback, authors can now delete any comment that's left on their stories.

Additional data and context when searching for stories and circles to give you an idea of how much is available.

Fixed a bug in the library where the preview button (binoculars icon) would sometimes expand to fill the entire bottom of the selection view.

StoryForge Beta 1.0, Minor announcement (2024-02-23)

We've added a few new genres for you to choose from! They include: Urban Fantasy, Comedy, Noir, Dark Fantasy as a sub-genre of Fantasy.

Backend release 0.15.3 "Flandrau", build U5IE4IDE3 (2024-02-25)

Lots of behind-the-scenes bug fixes to prepare for a couple releases this week, and fixing some issues with the Daily Task List.

Backend release 0.15.4 "Flandrau", build 4U6ACC9F3 (2024-02-26)

Stole EventController.js from Vivik and properly bolted it to the master route controller. Why did we forget to do this yesterday before Vivik got a hold of it? Great question.

Fixed a misspelled comment that was bothering us.
